The Terracotta Soldiers

This is Likes Chocolate reporting from downtown Atlanta where today Roman and I went to the High Art Museum or Atlanta Art Museum. We saw the amazing" The First Emperor-China's Terracotta Army". Unfortunately, the collection leaves Atlanta on the 19th of April. It was worth the ride on the MARTA and the break in our normal routine. The soldiers were found in 1974 when a farmer went to dig a well. He struck the head of one of the soldiers. 7000 soldiers were found in an area about 20 miles wide. These soldiers were created by an assembly of 1000 workers in the years 221 B.C. -206 B.C. Did you know that for $90 you can become a family member? This gives you unlimited access to the museum and with unlimited access, you do not need to cram the whole museum into one afternoon. You can stay as little or as long as you want without feeling the pressure to stay because you paid a ton of money. Your spouse can't attend no worries you can bring a guest for free and their children too. Another benefit is that they open the collections up first to the members viewing, and then there are the educational programs that are also included in the membership. They offer Toddler Thursdays and Family Saturdays where your child can attend story hour, art education classes, and they can also create their own art. Is family membership a little out of your price range? Then try coming down on the first Saturday of the month where the museum is free to all Fulton County residents. Make a day out of it and bring a lunch down to have a picnic lunch on the lawn. Don't want to eat a picnic lunch? Then they have a cafe within the building, but just kiddy corner to the museum is Colony Place business center that is loaded with yummy places to eat such as Jaffa's Gate, Great Wrap, Starbucks, Blimpies, European Cafe, and Chick fil A. Still at the museum is the Louvre collection until September 6th, 2009. Upcoming collections are the Monet Collection. Who needs to buy expensive airline tickets when you can head to Atlanta and attend the High Art Museum.

Sounds like so much fun!!!
Sounds like a great place, great for the kids to see too. Oh, and don't feel like you missed anything by not seeing the Lindt Factory (although it is right by my house, darn) - they don't do tours anymore - it's just a shop of discounted chocolate. Cool, but nothing too exciting.
